Brigadier General (Brig Gen) Matthew Essien – General Officer Commanding (GOC), Northern Command (N/COMD), has received a team comprised of German engineering construction experts, and members of the German Armed Forces Technical Advisory Group (GAFTAG), who called on him, in preparation for construction works.

The visit on Thursday 20 April 2023, at the Headquarters of N/COMD, Nyohini, in Tamale, was in line with GAFTAG’s support to the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF), in the provision of infrastructure, logistics and training.
As part of their itinerary, the GAFTAG delegation visited the site for the construction of the 3 Field Workshop, to assess and evaluate the project, which when started, would meet international standards.

The team also inspected the Multi National Joint Task Force (MNJTF) Headquarters for Operation Enhanced KOUDANLGOU, which is co-located with the Headquarters N/COMD, at Nyohini, in Tamale, in the Northern Region of Ghana.
The leader of the delegation – Lieutenant Colonel B Frei expressing their readiness to support Ghana’s military, also lauded the Military High Command’s commitment and partnership with GAFTAG, and bilateral engagements between Ghana and Germany.

General Essien commended GAFTAG for their immense support, and also appealed to them to continue to strengthen existing ties, reiterating the importance of sustainment, which is key to the success of any military operation.
