GHANA ARMY CONDUCTS STAFF VISIT & COMMAND RECCE TO ESSMGB GHANCOY 3

A high-powered Staff and Pre-deployment Reconnaissance team of the Ghana Army, led by Brigadier General (Brig Gen) Frederick Dankyi Ntiri, has paid a 5-day working visit to the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) Stabilization Support Mission in Guinea-Bissau (ESSMGB), Ghana Company 3 (GHANCOY 3).

The Staff Visit and Command Reconnaissance, which was conducted from Monday 5-Saturday 10 May 2025, was to enable the Team obtain firsthand information about operations, administrative and logistics situation of the GHANCOY in Guinea-Bissau, as well as to facilitate tactical decision making by GHANCOY 4, before its insertion.

As part of the visit, the delegation paid courtesy calls on the Resident Representative of the President of ECOWAS Commission/ Head of Mission, the Force Commander ESSMGB as well as the Presidential Security Heads. The Delegation also visited GHANCOY Headquarters and toured the Camp.

Brig Gen F Ntiri, who is the Acting Commandant of Ghana’s National College of Defence Studies (NCDS) in his remarks, during a durbar with All Ranks, reiterated the importance of teamwork, and urged personnel to continue supporting the Combat Team Commander (CTC) – Lieutenant Colonel (Lt Col) Gabriel Mawuli Agboado, to ensure mission success.

Brig Gen Ntiri on behalf of the Chief of the Army Staff, Ghana Army, also lauded GHANCOY 3 for the successes it has chalked so far, and wished the Unit the very best in the remaining months of their tour of duty.

He assured the Unit that the challenges highlighted during their brief will be made known to the Military High Command, and admonished personnel to eschew complacency and approach tasks with utmost tact and diligence.

The delegation which included the Army Secretary, Ghana Army – Col William Kwasi Ohemeng; Director, Lands and Doctrine, Training and Doctrine Command – Col Peter Amoah; incoming CTC, GHANCOY 4 – Lt Col Isaac Ekow Amoah; and the Logistics Officer – Captain R Owusu, were also present during the Joint Medal Day ceremony for ESSMGB.
