Major General (Maj Gen) Bismarck Kwasi Onwona has been officially inducted into office as the Chief of the Army Staff (COAS) of the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) during an Induction Religious Parade to seek the guidance and blessings of God upon his endeavours as the COAS, to help him achieve success during his tenure of office.
Speaking on Tuesday, 25 June, 2024 held at the forecourt of the Odartey-Wellington Block of the Army Headquarters, Burma Camp, Accra, “Building beyond walls, Prophet Nehemiah”, the Director Army Religious Affairs (DARA) Chaplain – Colonel (Col) Peter Nyarko Duodu stated that Nehemiah was an inspiring visionary leader who provided valuable lessons of perseverance, faith and effective leadership.

He further asserted that a visionary leader is characterized by innovative thinking, strategic foresight and ability to work towards a common goal, and thus urged all to reflect on the exemplary leadership of Nehemiah, whose unrelenting faith and visionary spirit transformed a community to build a city.
In his homily, Imam K Shafudeen spoke on the topic, “become deliberate to the code”, admonishing all to be guided by the Armed Forces Regulations, and to deliberately acquire knowledge and skills to ensure their successful progress.

Maj Gen BK Onwona, in his remarks, expressed his heartfelt appreciation to the Commander-in- Chief of the GAF, the Minister for Defence, the Chief of the Defence Staff and all his superiors, for the confidence reposed in him, and pledged to be faithful and dedicated in the discharge of his duties.
Furthermore, the COAS expressed gratitude to all personnel for their dedication and sacrifices towards the mission of the Army, and urged all to accord him the utmost support towards the realisation of his vision, to enable him build on what has been established by his predecessors.
