GHANA ARMY TEAM PARTICIPATES IN 8 ARMIES INT’L TRAINING EX

The Ghana Army Team sent to participate in a 12-day 8-nation International Peace Operations training exercise – Ex SHANTI-PRAYAS IV held in Nepal, Asia, have presented an International Military Instructors plaque and a plate, which was awarded them, to the Chief of the Army Staff (COAS) of the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) – Major General (Maj Gen) Bismarck Kwasi Onwona, upon their return.

The Ghana Army participants, led by Major (Maj) Fiifi Benzola Eshun, presented the two plaques to Maj Gen BK Onwona, at his office at the Army Headquarters (AHQ), on Thursday, 7 March, 2024, who, in congratulating the team for their stellar performance displayed at the international meet, encouraged them to put to use all that they had learnt, stating that they had now become potential instructors for the Army Peace Operations Training School (APOTS).

The 8-nation EX SHANTI PRAYAS IV 2024, was held from 20 February to 4 March 2024, at the Birendra Peace Operations Training Centre in Panchkul, Nepal, in Asia, with the participation of a Ghana Army Platoon comprised of 5 Officers and 27 Soldiers, who took part in 2 major events – the Staff Training Exercise (STE) and the Field Training Exercise (FTE).

Areas covered in the STE covered Operations, Logistics, Plans and Civil-Military Cooperation (CIMIC), whiles the FTE included convoy escort, patrols, extraction, cordon and search operations, base camp security and check point.

The international exercise, which saw the participation of the Armies of Bangladesh, Fiji, Mongolia, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Uruguay, and the United States of America, had the Ghana Army team receiving the International Military Instructors plaque and a plate for GAF – Active Participation of Platoon.

Major Fiifi Benzola Eshun, on behalf of the participants expressed his appreciation to the COAS for the opportunity given them to acquire more knowledge, and assured that the knowledge gained from the meet, would be implemented to help meet the mandate of the Ghana Army and the GAF, as a whole.
