Ghana Army’s Base Ammunition Depot (BAD), have marked its 2023 West African Soldiers Social Activities (WASSA), with the Commanding Officer (CO) – Lt Col Issah Tahiru, commending his Officers, Soldiers and Defence Civilian Staff, for their unwavering attention to duties.
The celebrations took place on Friday, 29 December 2023, at Michel Camp, where Lt Col Tahiru – who assumed command of the Depot in July 31 2023, charged all his staff, to imbibe the spirit of the Holidays in all their activities, and to mount up the bar, when it comes to carrying out their duties in the coming year, in the Depot.

The Guest of Honour for the occasion, and Commander, 851 Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Regiment – Colonel (Col) JDK Asare, urged all military personnel to celebrate the End-of-Year festivities but in moderation, as they need to still be alert, in keeping the peace of the nation.
He continued that although the ensuing year of 2024 beckons a hectic schedule, it is still expected of security personnel to give of their best, to surpass previous performances, especially in internal security operations, and in keeping the frontiers of the nation safe.


As part of the entertainment of the event, there were Combat Readiness Display Contests between Young Soldiers, and live musical entertainment by soldiers.
Guests present included the Commander Rear, 1 Infantry Battalion (1Bn) – Lt Col Frank Adams; CO, Army Recruit Training School (ARTS) – Lt Col Abdul Wahab Issah; CO, School of Ordnance – Lt Col Edna Antwi; and 1 Garrison Education Officer – Major Patience Yeboah Frimpong.
