GHANA ARMY’S C/COMD TRAINS MANHYIA LOCAL PRISONS SERVICE

Ghana Army’s Central Command (C/COMD) has collaborated with the Ghana Prisons Service, to organize a two-week training for twenty-nine (29) personnel of the Manhyia Local Prisons, Kumasi, to enhance their professional knowledge, skills and competence, and improve their efficiency and effectiveness in discharging duties.

The training, which commenced on Tuesday, 22 August and ended on Friday, 1 September 2023, at the Command Headquarters, Idris Barracks, Kumasi, had participants taken through theoretical and practical lessons in Weapon Handling, Voice Procedure, Field Craft, Physical Training, Drills and Range Classification.

Speaking as the Guest of Honour at the closing ceremony, the Command Operations Officer (COO), C/COMD – Colonel (Col) Henry Ansah-Akrofi, said the purpose of the training was to equip participants with the requisite skills and knowledge to address any challenges they may face in their line of duties, and urged the personnel to conduct themselves professionally at all times.

The COO encouraged the participants to live exemplary leadership lives, by eschewing any form of laziness and malingering, and to discharge their duties with integrity and professionalism.

The Officer in Charge (OIC), Manhyia Local Prisons Service – Deputy Director of Prisons, Joseph Asaabre, commended C/COMD for its continuous support and assistance to the Ghana Prisons, and stated his hopes that the relationship between the two Services would continue to wax strong.

He presented citations to the General Officer Commanding (GOC), C/COMD – Brigadier General Charles Agyemang-Prempeh, and the COO, on behalf of the Prisons Service Regional Commander for the Ashanti Region.

The Command Logistics Officer, C/COMD – Col John Frempong-Manso, the Command General Staff Officer Grade II (GSO II) Operations and Training – Major Allen Akwei Hammond, and the Command Legal Advisor – Squadron Leader Daramy, were present at the ceremony.
