The Army Combat Training School (ACTS) has held opening and closing ceremonies for first and second batch courses within the first and second semester 2024.
The School, which is responsible for the training of Basic, and Advanced courses in Weaponry, Tactical courses, and career professional courses for Officers, Senior Non-Commissioned Officers (SNCOs) and NCOs of the GAF, completed its First Semester batch of courses in Tactics, for 2 out of 3 courses that commenced in January/February 2024.

On Friday 7 June 2024, the Commander of the Army Training Command (ATRAC) – Brigadier General (Brig Gen) Stephen Woseadzikpo Kweku Parbey, conducted the closing ceremonies at the Jungle Welfare School (JWS) for the Combat Team Commanders’ Course (CTCC 1-24), and Advanced Non-Commissioned Officers’ Tactical Courses (ANTC 1-24), which were organised for Officers and SNCOs of GAF.
In his closing remarks, the Commander, ATRAC (CATRAC) – Brig Gen SWK Parbey, thanked all the participants and congratulated them for completing the various phases of the tactical training successfully, urged them to share the knowledge they had acquired in their various Units, and continue to upgrade themselves.

Relatedly, ACTS has commenced the second batch of courses for the Second Semester of the Training Year, which include the Young Officers’ Course (YOC 2-24); Combat Team Commanders’ Course (CTCC 2-24); Advanced Drill and Duties Courses (ADDC 1-24); Advanced Non-Commissioned Officers’ Tactical Course (ANTC 2-24); Basic Mortar Course (BMC 1-24), Basic Machine Gun Course (BMGC 1-24); and Basic Infantry Platoon Weapon Course (BIPWC 1-24).
Brig Gen SWK Parbey performed the opening ceremony of the YOC 2-24 and ANTC 2-24, on Monday 10 June 2024, at the Training and Doctrine Command (TRADOC) Hall, Accra.
In his remarks, the CATRAC emphasized on the need for the students to take the courses seriously, since it is critical to their career advancement, and urged them to make it a point to complete the course successfully, with good grades.

The two (2) courses earmarked for Young Officers and SNCOs, is scheduled for a period of 22 weeks, with the courses package covering Leadership, Multi-Domain Operations, Tactical Exercises, Command and Field Operations.
He also reminded all participants that the YOC and ANTC courses would be physically and mentally demanding and motivated the students to tune their mind and go all out in making themselves and their units proud.

For Honours, the CTCC 1-24 and the ANTC 1-24 ended with various students performing exceptionally well, as Major (Maj) FD Konadu from Engineer Training School (ETS) placed First for the CTCC; Maj PP Obuobi from Ghana Military Academy (GMA) placed Second; and Maj WE Mingle from Jungle Welfare School (JWS) placed Third in order of merit.
For the ANTC Sergeant (Sgt) Obeng Michael Fianu from 154 Armed Regiment (154 Armd Regt) placed First; Sgt Mensah Felix from 10 Mechanized Battalion (10 Mech Bn) placed Second; and Staff Sgt Mossey Frank Edem from Army Recruit Training School (ARTS) placed Third in the order of merit.
