Northern Command (N/COMD) of the Ghana Army, has closed its 16 weeks Basic Non-Commissioned Officers Tactical Course 1-25 (BNTC 1-25), which trained participants in conventional warfare, counter-insurgency, counter-terrorism and internal security operations, and jungle orientation, to make them effective trainers and leaders in their respective Units.
Closing the course on Friday 11 July 2025, held at the Command’s Headquarters in Tamale, the General Officer Commanding (GOC), N/COMD – Brigadier General (Brig Gen) Franklyn Worlanyo Agbebo commended participants of BNTC 1-25, for their resilience and professionalism throughout the training.

Brig Gen Agbebo described the course as a critical step in developing the tactical proficiency of Young Soldiers, in line with the Chief of the Army Staff’s vision of “Professionalism and Combat Readiness”.
He noted that the decentralisation of the course in 2019 was a strategic decision to address the growing number of Soldiers yet to undergo such training in the Ghana Army.

Touching on regional security, the GOC highlighted the security situation in the northern part of Ghana, and the terrorist threat from the Sahel Region, hence the need for constant training and preparation of troops, to enable effective handling of such situations, and thus called for heightened vigilance and commitment, particularly in light of the conflict at Bawku.
Brig Gen Agbebo urged the participants to put the knowledge acquired into practice at their Units, and further charged them to maintain high levels of discipline, advising them to desist from social vices, such as betting and fraud, among others.
