The Ghana Artillery Officers Association (GAOA) has sworn in new batch of executives, with Brigadier General (Brig Gen) Nicholas Kporku (Rtd) as the President of the Association, Colonel (Col) Sally Odoi-Gyampo (Rtd) as Vice-President and Major Belinda Oboshie Torgbor as the Treasurer, to take over the mantle of leadership for the next 2 years.
The swearing-in programme took place at the Army Officers’ Mess in Accra, on Wednesday 17 January 2024, with members of the Association in attendance, and the new executives presented with mementos (Artillery-designed Kente stoles and citations) for their exemplary leadership.

The Outgone President, GAOA – Major General (Maj Gen) Nii Carl Coleman (Rtd), who had been at the helm of affairs of the Association for the past 19 years, congratulated the new batch of executives.
He reminisced the inception of GAOA in 2005 and the numerous challenges that had threatened the nascent Association, expressing joy that with the support of members, the Association was able to overcome the challenges, and is currently one of the most vibrant Associations in the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF).

Maj Gen Coleman urged the newly sworn-in executives to work harder to consolidate the gains made over the years, and to take the Association to greater heights, advising them to serve the Association to the best of their abilities, and to find innovative means of getting young Officers to actively participate in all activities of the group.
The newly-inducted President – Brig Gen N Kporku (Rtd), in his acceptance speech, expressed immense gratitude to the former executives and the entire membership of the Association, for the opportunity and confidence reposed in the new executives to serve the group, outlined his vision and expressed his commitment to sustain the gains of the Association.


He implored all members to extend their full support to the new executives to enable them fulfil their responsibilities, and on behalf of the Association, commended the immediate past executives for their hard work and initiatives, and selflessness over the years.
