GHANA’S 91ST UNIFIL BATTALION MARKS END OF PRE-DEPLOYMENT TRAINING WITH RELIGIOUS PARADE

The United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) Ghanaian Battalion 91 (GHANBATT 91) has held an End of Pre-Deployment Training Religious Parade, to reflect on the goodness of God and to seek His blessing and guidance, prior to embarking on the mission.

The parade which was held at Ghana’s Army Peace Operations Training School (APOTS), Battle Training Camp (BTC), Bundase, in the Greater Accra Region, on Sunday 4 August 2024, had the Commander, Army Training Command (ATRAC) – Brigadier General (Brig Gen) Stephen Woseadzikpo Kweku Parbey as Chief Guest.

He urged the troops, in a speech after a sermon by the Clergy, to be reminded of God’s faithfulness, love, His promises as rock of defence, His protection as refuge and strength, in times of uncertainty, during their tour of duty in Southern Lebanon.

“As you prepare to serve in Lebanon, remember that you are not just representatives of Ghana, but ambassadors of God’s love and compassion. Your mission is not just a humanitarian effort, but it is a testament to our shared humanity. You are not just peacekeepers, but beacons of hope for a nation yearning for peace and stability”, he said.

He encouraged All Ranks of the Battalion, to remain discipline and vigilant in all their endeavours whiles in UN theatre, and to build good working relationships with all adjoining Units, UN and Humanitarian Agencies.

Present at the parade included the Commander, APOTS – Colonel Clement Kojo Dingane; Commanding Officer, UNIFIL GHANBATT 91 – Lieutenant Colonel Isaac Kobe Boako; the Clergy; Officers, Regimental Sergeant Major, and Soldiers of the GHANBATT.
