GHANA’S DEFENCE MINISTER PLEDGES COMPLETION OF AFARI MILITARY HOSP

Ghana’s Defence Minister – Dr Edward Kofi Omane Boamah has pledged to see to the completion of the Afari Military Hospital in Kumasi by September, 2025.

Dr Omane Boamah gave this assurance when he led a delegation of dignitaries to inspect the project’s current state on Friday, 14 February 2025.

He stated that the 500-bed capacity project, which commenced in 2014, was initially expected to be completed in 2018 but stalled.

Dr Omane Boamah emphasized the urgent need to complete the project to augment the operations of the 37 Military Hospital, and provide quality healthcare for Ghanaians.

The delegation also visited the Manhyia Palace to discuss the security situation in Bawku and potential solutions to address the challenge, with the Asantehene – Otumfuo Osei-Tutu II.

The entourage comprised of the Interior Minister Mr Muntaka Muhammed; Minister for Lands and Natural Resources – Mr Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah; Ashanti Regional Minister – Dr Frank Amoakohene; Chief of the Defence Staff, Ghana Armed Forces – General Thomas Oppong-Peprah, and other Senior Officers.
