Ghana’s Minister for Lands and Natural Resources – Mr Samuel Abu Jinapor, has described the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) as the sine qua non tool in the management of mineral resources in Ghana.
The Minister said these, when he led a delegation from his Ministry to call on the Chief of the Defence Staff (CDS) of the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF), at the General Headquarters, Burma Camp, Accra, on Tuesday, 19 March 2024.
He noted that GAF had played important roles in safeguarding the environment, while helping Ghana’s Lands and Mineral Resources Ministry deal with the menace of illegal mining and logging.

He further disclosed of plans being far advanced for GAF to host the 2024 commemorative “Green Ghana Day” slated for Friday 7 June 2024.
GAF’s CDS – Lieutenant General Thomas Oppong-Peprah thanked the Minister for the visit and assured of the military’s commitment to continue working together with the Ministry, to safeguard the environment and protect Ghana against any environmental threats.
He also assured the Minister of GAF’s readiness to host the “Green Ghana Day”, which is a national tree planting exercise.
