GHANA’S MILITARY OBSERVES INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY

The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) joined the world to celebrate International Women’s Day with a health walk and a medical outreach.

The commemorations took place at the La Wireless Cluster of Schools in the La-Dadekotopon Municipality, Accra, Ghana, on Friday, 8 March 2024.

The Chief of the Defence Staff (CDS) – Lt Gen Thomas Oppong-Peprah stated that GAF’s theme for the occasion was “Advancing GAF’s commitment to inclusiveness”, in line with the global theme of “Inspiring inclusiveness.”

The CDS appreciated the Canadian government and the ELSIE initiative for their partnership towards gender mainstreaming in the GAF.

The Political Counsel at the Canadian High Commission – Madam Grace Lee said, GAF is setting a great example by putting women in leadership roles in United Nations peacekeeping operations, and therefore the High Commission was proud to collaborate with GAF.
