Ghana’s Defence Minister – Dr Edward Kofi Omane Boamah has paid his maiden visit to the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF), and assured to enhance the pace of development, building upon the foundations laid by his predecessors.
The Minister made the commitment when he and his Chief Director – Mr Lawoetey Tettey, were received to Ghana’s military nerve center – Burma Camp, Accra – by the Chief of the Defence Staff (CDS) – General (Gen) Thomas Oppong-Peprah; Service Chiefs; Chief of Staff, General Headquarters (GHQ); Commandants, and many Principal Officers of GHQ, on Monday, 10 February 2025.



Dr EK Omane Boamah also commended the CDS for the progress made by the Armed Forces, and stressed the importance of motivating the human resource of GAF.
Gen T Oppong-Peprah affirmed GAF’s commitment to the defence of Ghana’s territorial space, and also highlighted the military’s unwavering commitment to the development of Ghana through its specialized corps, such as the Engineer, Education, Medical, etc.

He further assured that GAF personnel would continue to exhibit high standards of professionalism, discipline, loyalty, integrity and dedication at all times.
As part of the visit, the Minister was led by the CDS to tour the Service Headquarters, where he engaged Lieutenant General Bismarck Kwasi Onwona – Chief of the Army Staff at the Army HQ; Vice Admiral Issah Adam Yakubu – Chief of the Naval Staff at the Naval HQ; and Air Marshall Frederick Kwasi Asare Bekoe – Chief of the Air Staff at the Air Force HQ.


He also visited the Duala Redevelopment Project, the National College of Defence Studies (NCDS) Complex, the Duala Hospital construction, among other ongoing projects at Burma Camp.
Dr Omane Boamah later inspected some new accommodation/classroom facilities at the Ghana Military Academy, and visited, and, where and, variously received and briefed him.
