GhBC CHECKS GHANA’S WEST MARITIME BOUNDARY

The National Coordinator of the Ghana Boundary Commission (GhBC) – Major General (Maj Gen) Emmanuel Wekem Kotia, has led a team to assess a four-day inspection of Ghana’s maritime boundary on its Western Frontiers.

The assessment by the National Coordinator which took place on Thursday 30 March 2023, with the inspection exercise commencing from Monday 27 to 30 March 2023, in collaboration with the Ghana Navy. The inspection was in fulfilment of the commission’s mandate to safeguard the territorial integrity of Ghana’s land and maritime boundaries.

The exercise, which took place both at sea and onshore, was aimed at evaluating Ghana’s Western Maritime Boundary and the status of Ghana’s Western maritime and land boundary, with a Ghana Navy Ship (GNS) being used for the inspection, whiles the technical team used a surveillance maritime drone on board the ship, to verify any possible violations up 50 nautical miles at sea.
