The Ghana Boundary Commission (GhBC) commenced a three-day maiden experience-sharing workshop on the development and operationalization of National Boundary Structures, for Southern African Development Community (SADC) countries and Ethiopia, to contribute to the operationalisation/strengthening of Boundary Commissions of targeted states.
The three-day workshop, which commenced on Monday 20 November 2023, is the first of its kind and sponsored by the German Government, using its international agency Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ), as the implementing agency in collaboration with the African Union Border Programme (AUBP).

The workshop will allow already established Boundary Commission structures such as that of Ghana, Nigeria, Kenya and Mozambique, to share their success stories, as a measure to encourage the development and operationalisation of independent National Boundary Commissions or Structures, for other countries on the continent of Africa.
In attendance at the opening ceremony were the Deputy German Ambassador to Ghana – Her Excellency Sivine Jansen; the Deputy Minister for Lands and Natural Resources – Benito Owusu-Bio; the National Coordinator of the GhBC – Major General Emmanuel Kotia; and the Director General for the National Boundary Commission of Nigeria – Surveyor Adamu Adaji.

Participating countries were from Botswana, Ethiopia, Malawi, Mozambique and Zimbabwe.
