GLICO LIFE PAYS GHS15,000 TO SLAIN SOLDIER’S FAMILY

As reaffirmation of commitment to the Ghanaian military community, particularly, GLICO LIFE, a life insurance company, has paid an amount of Fifteen Thousand Cedis (GHS 15,000), to the family of a Young Soldier – Private (Pte) Imoro Sheriff, who was slain at Ashaiman, near Accra, on Saturday 4 March, 2023, as claims for a policy he had with the insurers.

The mother of the slain Soldier – Madam Afia Akyaa, in the company of his father and uncle, received the payment from the life insurers, on Tuesday 4 April, 2023, in the presence of the Commander, 15 Armoured Brigade (15 Armd Bde) – Brigadier General Ben Gah, at Gondar Barracks, Burma Camp, Accra.

Speaking on behalf of the Managing Director, GLICO LIFE – Mrs Maame Dufie Achampong Kyei-Obeng, the Chief Sales Officer – Mr John Ekar Smart said, Pte Imoro was a policyholder under GLICO’s Education Endowment Plan, a scheme which has elements of death benefits, which entitled the deceased to GHS 11,842.21, upon death, however, in the spirit of empathy, the company paid GH 15,000.

“As we pay this claim, we want to assure the Ghanaian military and the general public that GLICO Life is a reliable partner for your life insurance needs. We are proud of our track record in paying claims, and today’s event is no exception”, Mr Smart said.

GLICO LIFE has been in existence in Ghana for over three decades, and in 2022, the company is said to have paid claims to the tune of GH127,901,000, further reinforcing its commitment to its policyholders and their families.

GLICO LIFE has had a long record of cordial relations with the Ghana Armed Forces, particularly the Ghana Air Force.

The late Pte Imoro Sheriff, was a 22-year-old Young Soldier stationed with Ghana Army’s 154 Armoured Regiment, Sunyani, a Unit under the 15 Armd Bde. He was brutally slain in the night of the said date, on his way to visit his mother at Taifa, Ashaiman, and has since been laid to rest.
