The Ghana Military Academy (GMA) Intake 32 Association has given medical equipment worth Three Hundred Thousand Cedis (GH₵ 300,000) to the 37 Military Hospital (37 MIL HOSP) Medical Emergency Unit, Accra, and the Airborne Force (ABF) Medical Reception Station (MRS), Tamale, in fulfilment of its social project pledge made in 2022, during their 30th anniversary celebrations.

Presenting the equipment on behalf of the association at the 37 MIL HOSP on Thursday 23 November 2023, the Chief of the Defence Staff (CDS) of the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) – Vice Admiral (V/Adm) Seth Amoama said, the equipment would help the health centres improve their healthcare delivery to both the military and the general public.

The medical equipment are; one Portable Ventilator sponsored by STANBIC BANK GH LTD, two Perfuse Pumps by GUARANTY TRUST BANK, two Cardiac Monitors by SO ENERGY, one Oxygen Concentrator by Mrs Yvette Selormey, hospital beds, wheelchairs, nebulizers, suction machines, weighing scales, manual and digital sphygmomanometers, oxygen flow-meters, oximeters, and glucometers amongst others.

Admiral Amoama, who donated Ten Thousand Cedis (GH₵ 10,000) to the immediate cause of the association at their 30th Anniversary, said their donation aptly demonstrates their core belief, which is “UBUNTU, TOGETHER AS ONE”, and urged them not to relent in their assistance to the medical facilities, but to continue to help raise the standards of military healthcare.

The President of the seven-year-old GMA Intake 32 Association, who also is Commander, Air Force Base, Tamale – Air Commodore (A/Cdre) Joshua Mensah-Larkai, said they embarked on the social project intending to make a unique impact that makes a whole world of difference in the lives of many – supporting medical personnel in saving lives.

He paid tribute to the Vice President of the association – Mr Samson Cheataa-Laryea, Esq, its Planning Committee, chaired by A/Cdre Yaw Cole, and other intake executives and members, for their individual cash contributions.

The association had previously provided support to the Arakan and Douala Medical Centres at Burma Camp, Accra, brokered a deal worth about GH₵73,000, which saw SO ENERGY LTD provide and install solar lights to improve security at the Hospital, donated assorted items to GMA, Teshie Children’s Home, and given yearly monetary assistance to families of deceased intake mates.

The association procured the latest items donated, with support from STANBIC BANK, GUARANTY TRUST BANK, SO ENERGY, JOHN MOORE, HISENSE Group of Companies, VOLTA RIVER AVIATION, V/Adm S Amoama, Mrs Yvette Selormey, members of the association, and Mr Michael Adjei of ADVANTAGE LTD – the main supplier of the medical equipment, who will install, maintain and train personnel to handle the equipment for one year.

Present at the presentation included representatives of GAF’s Service Chiefs, and the Director General, Medical Services; the Commander of 37 MIL HOSP – Brig Gen Prosper Ayibor; Commanding Officer – Colonel (Col) Richard Mensah; and Chief Nursing Officer – Col Francisca Aba Amakyi.
