In commemoration of their Silver Jubilee Anniversary, members of the Ghana Military Academy (GMA) Regular Career Course (RCC) Intake 42, and Short Service Commission (SSC)/Special Duties (SD) Intake 41, have constructed and commissioned a comfortable shelter for visitors at the 37 Military Hospital (37 MIL HOSP).
The gazebo was commissioned on Thursday 31 July 2025, by the Commander, 37 MIL HOSP – Brigadier General (Brig Gen) Evelyn Vivian Abraham-Kwabiah, with the assistance of the President of RCC Intake 42, SSC/SD Intake 41 – Colonel (Col) Owusu Yaw Appah.

The Intake mates – commissioned as Officers of the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) on 16 August 2002 – constructed the shed with the aim to offer a decent and convenient sitting area for the many patients’ relatives and loved ones who visit at the military hospital.
Brig Gen EV William-Kwabiah who believes that the structure is fit-for-purpose, said in her commissioning address that the intended users of the facility could hardly wait to use it, as they had started using the facility immediately it was roofed.

She then expressed her conviction that the rest-area project, located just by the maternity block of the hospital, would further energise other GMA Intakes who have expressed the desire to provide similar structures in the hospital, to put their words into action.
Col OY Appah said the over GHS 100,000-project was designed for simplicity, presenting a place of comfort and respite, a sanctuary where patients, families and caregivers alike, can find a moment of calmness and freshness during difficult and tense moments, particularly when they wait on their maternity patients.

The spacious gazebo project entails 12 sitting benches, sophisticated lighting system, and some landscaping work in the surrounding area, was funded through the individual contributions of members of the Intakes.
The 37 MIL HOSP continues to be the military health facility that avails its services to all personnel of GAF and their families, and is where all Ministry of Defence personnel commence their entry into service with GAF, whether they are military personnel or Defence Civilian Staff.

The hospital also continues to serve the health needs of persons in service and retired, with the effective and efficient healthcare delivery provided being expanded to embrace civilian compatriots, who now constitute the largest percentage of patients patronizing this facility.
The RCC Intake 42, SSC/SD Intake 41 25th Anniversary Gazebo will surely relieve the stress of patients’ relatives who hitherto had to perch at various uncomfortable areas within the hospital.
