The General Officer Commanding (GOC), Northern Command (N/COMD) – Brigadier General (Brig Gen) Frank Nartey Tei, has charged soldiers under his Command to be particularly discipline, remember their oath of service and be guided by the tenets of their profession in all activities, as Ghana’s Presidential and Parliamentary Elections approaches.
He made the call when he addressed Young Soldiers during a parade held at Kamina Barracks, Tamale on Wednesday 25 September 2024, to commemorate Lanyard Presentation after six months of training.

He admonished his troops that in instances where they are in doubt, they should seek advice from their superiors, and eschew vices that have the potential to ruin their career, such as issues of betting, drug abuse, and fraud – which, he said, have become a prevalent canker that must be nipped in the bud.
General Tei assured his charges that the Command will not hesitate to mete out necessary punishment to individuals when caught, and will not tolerate recalcitrant soldiers in any form or manner, particularly in N/COMD.
The GOC said the significance of Ghana’s 2024 General Elections to its democracy, peace, and stability of the nation cannot be overemphasized, as uniformed personnel will be required to execute tasks in support of the electoral processes, by conducting a series of activities and trainings, as part of OPERATION PEACE TRAIL at Unit levels, before Election Day.

He also informed that 10 and 11 Mechanized Battalions have conducted joint trainings with the Ghana Police Service, in preparation for OPERATION PEACE TRAIL, whiles 6 Infantry Battalion, 69 Airborne Force and Air Force Base, Tamale, will take their turns from 8 October 2024.
“It is crucial to remain apolitical and neutral, avoiding any political activities or favouritism towards any party or candidate. Additionally, avoid any actions that could be seen as provocative or that could escalate tensions. Act with restraint and patience at all times. Like I have said before, if you are uncertain about any situation, seek advice from your superiors and you will be advised accordingly” General Tei stated.
