Brigadier General Matthew Kweku Essien – Ghana Army’s (GA) General Officer Commanding (GOC), Northern Command (N/COMD), has visited 11 Mechanised Battalion (11 Mech Bn), whose area of responsibility (AOR) is Ghana’s Upper East Region, to interact with troops, inspect ongoing projects, and to gauge the operational readiness of the Unit.
During his visit on Thursday 30 March 2023, the GOC expressed appreciation on behalf of the Military High Command (MHC) to All Ranks for their dedication to the security and stability of their area of operational responsibility over the period, and indicated that a new task force, led by Col AA Darkwa, is being operationalized to complement the Unit.
Brig Gen M Essien further disclosed that High Command would reward acts of commendable commitment towards security in the area, urging the troops to remain disciplined and professional at all times.
The Commanding Officer, 11 Mech Bn, Lt Col M Mintah-Agyemang thanked the GOC for his visit and assured him of his troops’ commitment to ensuring peace and stability as mandated.
