The General Officer Commanding (GOC) Central Command (C/COMD) – Brigadier General (Brig Gen) Charles Agyemang-Prempeh, has urged Ghanaian soldiers returning from United Nations peacekeeping operations, to spend their hard-earned allowances judiciously, and to beware of investment and Ponzi schemes that have not been approved by the Bank of Ghana.
The GOC was speaking as the Guest of Honor (in the stead of Ghana’s Chief of the Army Staff), at a Thanksgiving Service for 3 Infantry Battalion (3Bn) for a successful tour as the nucleus of United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) Ghana Battalion 89 (GH 89), and the 3rd Quarter Religious Parade for Ghana Armed Forces’ (GAF) 3 Garrison, which was organized on Sunday, 24 September, 2023, at the St Theodore Catholic Church, Liberation Barracks, Sunyani.

He welcomed all personnel of UNIFIL GH 89, congratulated them for a successful tour of duty in Southern Lebanon, and urged them to apply the same level of dedication and professionalism to duty shown at the UN theatre, to duties at their Command and in the nation.
Speaking at the service, the outgone Commanding Officer (CO) of 3Bn – Colonel (Col) John Kwarteng, expressed his gratitude to God for a fruitful tour amidst operational challenges, and thanked Ghana’s Military High Command and the GOC, for their support, which, he said, immensely contributed to their resounding success at the international peacekeeping in Lebanon.
Taking inspiration from the theme for the religious service: “Great is your faithfulness”, the clergy for the non-denominational service, called on troops not to rely only on their physical strength and weapons to execute their tasks as soldiers, but apply the God-factor in performing their duties successfully.

Dignitaries present at the event included the Bono Regional Minister – Madam Justina Owusu-Banahene; Director General, Religious Affairs, GAF – Commodore Paul Adjei-Djan; Inspector General’s Department, General Headquarters – Col Budu-Kumi, Command Operations Officer C/COMD – Col Henry Ansah-Akrofi; CO 3BN – Lieutenant Colonel Tenadu, CO Armoured Training School – Lt Col Abdul Bashir Issah, and Deputy Command Logistics Operations, C/Comd – Lt Col Amoah.
