Ghana’s Ambassador to Egypt and former Chief of the Defence Staff (CDS) of the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) – His Excellency (HE) Lieutenant General (Lt Gen) Obed Boamah Akwa (Rtd), has paid a courtesy call on the substantive CDS – Lt Gen Thomas Oppong-Peprah, at the General Headquarters on Wednesday, 19 June 2024.
HE Lt Gen Obed Akwa (Rtd) congratulated the CDS on his elevation to the highest rank and appointment in the GAF and also commended him for his efforts in improving the welfare of troops and their families.
He further posited that the creation of new units in the north and the deployment of modern equipment for troops leaves him in no doubt that, the security of the country is in good hands who will also ensure a free and peaceful election.
Lt Gen Oppong-Peprah, on his part, thanked him for the visit, and briefed HE Obed Akwa on the operational, logistical, and administrative state of GAF and the current security situation in the country.
