The Headquarters Northern Command has conducted a 6-day Final Field Training Exercise (FFTX), codenamed ‘Exercise Final Drive’, for participants of the Basic Non-Commissioned Officers Tactical Course 1-2024 (BNTC 1-24) in the Savelegu general area in Tamale.
The exercise from Sunday, 29 September to Friday, 4 October 2024, which included Advance to Contact, Defence, Deliberate Day and Night Ambush, Raid operation, as well as Dawn Attack, was designed to test participants’ ability to endure combat operations in adverse conditions, the employment of medium and heavy Infantry Platoon Weapons and Field Administration.

Additionally, the exercise aimed at assessing the physical fitness and endurance of the students, training them on command and control of Platoons and Sections in the field.
The General Officer Commanding (GOC), Northern Command (N/COMD) – Brigadier General (Brig Gen) Frank Nartey Tei, during his visit to the troops at the exercise area, expressed his delight at their commitment and dedication towards the exercise, and the prospect of a bright future for each Soldier.
The GOC stressed on how the 6-day FFTX fits into his vision to have well trained troops from the various Units within the Northern Sector, highly motivated and well equipped Soldiers, to achieve the tasks of the Armed Forces.

He commended the students for successfully completing a vital part of their career training and praised the Instructors for their dedication, and also stated that the invaluable experience gained from the FFTX, will contribute to the enhanced readiness and effectiveness of the troops, in their future roles within the Ghana Armed Forces.
