The Headquarters (HQ) Northern Command (H/COMD) has celebrated its West African Soldiers Social Activity (WASSA) to bring Officers, Soldiers, families, friends and other distinguished invited guests together, and review Command’s achievements whilst taking stock of the previous year, and making good projections to do better in the year ahead.
The WASSA took place at the forecourt of N/COMD’s Headquarters, on Friday 26 January 2024, with the Guest of Honour for occasion – the Sagnari Naa, His Majesty Ambassador Yakubu Abdulai assuring the command of the support of the traditional authorities.

He used the opportunity to call on the Regional Security Council to empower the state agencies to get more involved in the anti-drugs initiative, against illicit drugs menace that has plagued the Northern Region in recent times.
Ambassador Yakubu Abdulai further commended the troops of N/COMD for their resilience and fortitude to be upstanding all the time in dealing with any suspicion of terrorism that arose, adding that the recent donation of armoured vehicles and ambulances by the European Union and United Kingdom, would go a long way to enhance the effectiveness of operations.

He remarked that he had keenly followed the contributions and efforts of the N/COMD in maintaining and ensuring the peace and stability in the five Northern Regions.
In his welcome address, the Command Operations Officer (COO), N/COMD – Col Franklyn Worlanyo Kwasi (FWK) Agbebo, on behalf of the General Officer Commanding (GOC), N/COMD – Brigadier General Matthew Kweku Essien, commended the confidence exhibited by troops at the frontlines along the Northern borders within the Command’s Area of Responsibility, during the past year.

Renowned Ghanaian highlife artiste – Bisa Kdei was present to entertain troops and guests, with the presence of Key Staff Appointments in the Command, Commanding Officers of the Units under the Command.
