HQ NORTHERN COMMAND HOLDS CLOSING CEREMONY FOR BNTC 1/24

Ghana Army’s Northern Command (N/COMD), has marked a successful completion of its 16-week Basic Non-Commissioned Tactical Course 1/2024, organized for 55 Young Soldiers drawn from 6 Infantry Battalion (6Bn), 10 and 11 Mechanised Battalions, 155 Armoured Regiment (155 Armd Regt), and 69 Airborne Force (69 ABF).

The closing ceremony took place on Friday, 8 November 2024, at Headquarters (HQ) N/COMD, to crown the course which commenced on Friday 19 July 2024, and was designed to train troops as Non-Commissioned Officers, to effective command and control.

Students engaged in a comprehensive training package which included Disaster Management, Internal Security, Counter-Insurgency, and Counter-Terrorism, as well as two weeks of orientation at the Jungle Warfare School (JWS), at Achiase, in the Eastern Region of Ghana.

Addressing the participants, the General Officer Commanding (GOC), N/COMD – Brigadier General (Brig Gen) Frank Nartey Tei, noted that the course was a vital step in shaping the military skills of Young Soldiers, in line with the Chief of the Army Staff’s vision.

The GOC further reminded them that their training has prepared them not only for warfare, but also to uphold the trust citizens place in them.

Brig Gen Tei emphasized the need to remain vigilant, steadfast, and committed to maintaining peace and stability, especially in light of looming terrorist threats along Ghana’s Northern Frontiers.

He urged them to use the knowledge and skills acquired to benefit both themselves and the Ghana Armed Forces, while striving to gain more knowledge for personal growth.

The Course Commander – Major Steven Ampaateng Adoctar, in his welcome remarks, expressed gratitude to the GOC for the opportunity to run the course and for his unwavering support, and urged the participants to deliver their best at their various Units, since the training has enhanced their physical fitness, and developed their combat skill and mind set.
