JUNGLE WARFARE SCHOOL PASSES OUT 303 YOUNG SOLDIERS

Ghana Army’s Jungle Warfare School (JWS), Achiase, has held its fourth Passing-Out parade for three hundred and three (303) Young Soldiers who have completed the Basic Infantry Training Course 3-23 (BITC 3-23), after 26 weeks of training.

Their Passing-Out Parade was held on Friday 9 February 2024 at the Square of the Seth Anthony Barracks, Achiase where Brigadier General (Brig Gen) Anthony Ntem – Commander, 17 Signal Brigade, was the Reviewing Officer (RO).

Within the six (6) months of training, the Recruits were taken through basic but comprehensive military training that encompasses; Physical Training, Tactics, Weapon Training, Drill, Military Law, Map Reading, Field Craft, First Aid, among others, to convert them into military personnel, for a challenging yet unknown future.

Three hundred and six (306) Recruits commenced training from Friday 11 August 2023, however, 3 of them were released on fraudulent documentation detection.

Brig Gen A Ntem expressed the Military High Command’s gratitude to Otwaesuom Osae Nyampong of the Achiase Traditional Council, who personally funded the construction and furnishing of the Demonstration Company block, which has been christened after the Achiasehene, during the commissioning of the building.

At the awards; Private (Pte) Ahatse Joshua won OVERALL BEST RECRUIT; Pte Boahen Obed won BEST IN DRILL; Pte Marfo Foster won BEST IN ACADEMICS; Pte Boateng Sandra won BEST FEMALE RECRUIT; while Charlie Company won BEST COMPANY, and a citation presented to Otwaesuom Osae Nyampong VI.

Dignitaries present included the Achiasehene – Daasebre Gyenim Kantan II; Otwaesuom Osae Nyampong VI; Queen Mother of Achiase – Nana Dakoah II; Senior Officers, Commanding Officer, JWS – Lieutenant Colonel Jacob Codjoe, Officers, Sergeant Major of the Army, Formation and Unit Sergeant Majors, Regimental Sergeant Major, JWS, Instructors, families and friends.
