As part of preparations towards the launch of the 20th Anniversary of the Kofi Annan International Peacekeeping Training Centre (KAIPTC), the Commandant – Major General (Maj Gen) Richard Addo Gyane has launched the Centre’s Alumni Chapter, Sierra Leone, which becomes the first of its kind, and to be replicated across nations whose citizens have been impacted by KAIPTC.
Maj Gen RA Gyane launched the KAIPTC Alumni Chapter, Sierra Leone, at the Bintumani Hotel, Freetown, Sierra Leone, on Friday 11 October 2024, and swore-in an Interim National Executives Committee for the Chapter, after a selection process supervised by Dr Remember Nyaminge – a Course Facilitator for the KAIPTC.

The Commandant said, instituting the National Alumni Chapters would provide members the opportunity to meet each other, and also enable the alumni to get abreast with developments that have taken place at the prestigious Economic Community of West African States’ (ECOWAS) Training Centre of Excellence.
He continued that the KAIPTC has always acknowledged its alumni, and is now taking it a stage further as a project, with the launching of various National Alumni Chapters to organize them into formidable stakeholders, for purposes of institutional and national discourse on subjects of mutual interests.
The KAIPTC has evolved over the years, and its alumni have spread throughout the globe in search of growth, learning, knowledge, and their performances make differences everywhere they are, showcasing their excellence and outstanding performances, in notable spheres of human life, he stated.

The KAIPTC has become an institutional giant facilitating the achievement of greatness, with all the important prerequisites, such as vision for an expansive campus, conducive environment for all-round growth, experienced faculty, dedicated staff, accomplished alumni and the constant quest for necessary financial resources.
The ECOWAS TCE is almost done with the construction of a dedicated office for KAIPTC ALUMNI CHAPTER at the Headquarters, Teshie, Accra, to coordinate the affairs of all National Chapters.
The newly sworn-in Interim Executives of the KAIPTC Alumni Chapter, Sierra Leone are; John Fayiah Tumbay – President; Suson Coker – Vice President; Badriatu Turay – Public Relations Officer (PRO); Muhamed Salir – Deputy (PRO); Ahmed Ken Kamara – Secretary; Reverend Ismail Isaac Bangura; Abu-bakarr Sheriff (Esq) – Ex-Officio; Philip Fara Kargbo (Esq) – Ex-Officio; Major Julia Kamand – Ex-Officio.
The launch and swearing-in event was attended by many persons from Sierra Leone who have passed through the KAIPTC, Accra.
