Colonel Abdullateef ldris, a Course Director at the Kofi Annan International Peacekeeping Training Centre (KAIPTC) who was seconded to the West African Training Centre of Excellence from the Nigerian Armed Forces, has completed his duty tour as a Course Director.
A citation presented to him by the Deputy Commandant – Air Commodore George Arko-Dadzie and signed by the Commandant – Major General Richard Addo Gyane, at his send-off ceremony on Thursday 20 July 2023 at the Centre says, Colonel Idris was seconded to the KAIPTC “in 2021, an appointment that he completely distinguished himself in.

His commitment to service, moral principles and exemplary participatory spirit characterized this appointment and brought many changes in the modus operandi of the KAIPTC Seconded Course Director position.
From the moment Col Idris assumed office in July of 2021, his professionalism and affable nature became
evident to all. His commitment to excellence and ability to distinguish himself in various duties, including
his Conflict Prevention related courses and the Military
Observer course, course did not go unnoticed.
In fact, he even surprised the staff by joining the KAIPT Choir, despite beng a Muslim, showcasing his genuine love for cultural diversity, his down-to-earth nature and willingness to integrate into the KAIPTC family.
Oga, as he was popularly called, had a diplomatic yet fim approach to handling issues that was truly
remarkable, and will always be remembered in this respect. His attention to detail and thoroughness
demonstrated the highest level of dedication to ensuring that the courses he managed remained relevant and met international standards.

He is recognized as an efective ambassador of KAIPTC, making significant contributions to discussions on peace and security during conferences, workshops and other relevant sessions, furthernore, Col Idris’ humble and honest approach in dealing with both military and civilian staft, including course participants, set a commendable example for others to follow. His efforts in organizing and reviewing courses in accordance with the KAlPTC training policy have greatly benefited the Centre.
A citation honouring Col ldris would not be complete without mentioning the fact that he is by far the
singular seconded Course Director who participated in all KAIPTC activities during his tenure – from becoming a member of the first ever constituted KAIPTC Choir, to commiserating with bereaved staftat their hometowns from the Volta Region all the way north to the Ahafo Region. Aremarkable feat indeed.
Col Idris, you depart the KAIPTC with honour and respect, leaving behind a remarkable legacy and your
invaluable contribution to the KAIPTC brand. It is with great pleasure and admiration that the Centre
recognises the testament ofyour outstanding dedication during your tenure as Course Director.
As you leave the Centre, the Commandant and the entire staff of KAIPTC wish you well and continued
success in all your future endeavours.
