The meeting was formally opened by His Excellency (HE) Etoga Galax Yves Landry – Representative of the Minister for Defence, Cameroon, on Thursday, 30th January 2025, in Yaoundé, Cameroon, with Major General (Maj Gen) Richard Addo Gyane – Commandant of the Kofi Annan International Peacekeeping Training Centre (KAIPTC), among the distinguished attendees.

Following the opening ceremony, Maj Gen RA Gyane paid a courtesy call on Ghana’s Honorary Consul to the Republic of Cameroon – HE Consular Donald Muffih, providing an opportunity to discuss regional security cooperation, and KAIPTC’s role in peace support training across the continent.

The event was fully funded by the Cameroonian Government, highlighting its strong commitment to regional peace and security, whiles APSTA covered the airfare, accommodation, and meals for two delegates per member institution, ensuring broad participation.

At the end of the meeting, the following key updates were shared: 1) Rwanda became the new BOD Chair, representing the East African Region; 2) Five new members were also adopted into the association – Three new members from Cameroon and one each from Kenya and Tanzania.
