Conflict Analysis and Mediation (CAM) Course, a collaborative initiative between one of the three prestigious Training Centres of Excellency (TCE) of the Economic Community of West African States’ (ECOWAS) – Kofi Annan International Peacekeeping Training Centre (KAIPTC), and the Crisis Management Initiative (CMI), was established in 2013.
To deepen relations with its hosts – Ghanaians – KAIPTC has commenced three pivotal courses: CAM, Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Peacebuilding, and Leadership and Management in Security Organizations, mainly for Ghanaians.
The inception of the CAM course was driven by a dual purpose – the imperative need to intervene in conflicts; and the simultaneous need to enhance the understanding of different tools, frameworks, and aspects of conflict analysis and mediation among stakeholders for conflict prevention, management, and resolution.

The CAM Course serves as a response to the escalating need for conflict intervention and resolution, with a primary purpose to address the capacity gaps prevalent among mediators and mediation support teams across the African continent.
Furthermore, the course provides a dynamic platform for professional conflict resolution participants to engage in the sharing of experiences and lessons learned, particularly in the realm of multi-track mediation and peace processes.
At its core, the course aims to fortify participants’ abilities for critical, analytical, and practical conflict analysis in the context of mediation and negotiation, with following objectives;
1) Define Conflict 2) Identify the stages and types of conflict 3) Explain the importance of conflict analysis to resolving Conflict 4) Analyse Conflict a conflict situation and 5) make recommendations.
The course is tailored for professionals involved in peace-building activities in Ghana, such as Government Officials, Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) and Civil Society Representatives, Researchers and Academics, Practitioners in Peace and Conflict Resolution, Technologists and Data Analysts in the Peace and Security Sector, and Defence Sector Actors.
