KAIPTC’S LEADERSHIP & MGMT IN SECURITY ORGS COURSE

The Kofi Annan International Peacekeeping Training Centre (KAIPTC) has introduced a course – Leadership and Management in Security Organisations – targeting security companies, security professionals and leaders as well as the general public, and seeks to develop the core competencies that are consistent with existing security requirements and corporate culture.

KAIPTC – one of the three prestigious Training Centres of Excellency (TCE) of the Economic Community of West African States’ (ECOWAS) – has embarked on a venture to attract more attention of its hosts – Ghanaians, through three courses, one of which is the Leadership and Management in Security Organisations.

The course is designed for 1) Private Security Companies 2) Security Leaders, Managers and Professionals 3) Security organizations who need to keep up with the fast paced business environment 4) Individuals in security organisations seeking knowledge to manage staff, keep up with the pace of change and technology, and 5) Aspiring security professionals.

By means of lectures, participatory discussions, PowerPoint presentations, simulation, practical sessions/field exercise, participants will play an active role under the guidance of an experienced team of facilitators, with the Collaborative Problem Based Learning (CPBL) approach.

Modules applied in the Course include; Foundations of Leadership and Management; Introduction to Leadership and Management; Definition and Distinctions between Leadership and Management; Historical Perspectives on Leadership; Importance of Leadership in organizational success; Leadership Styles;

Others are; Overview of different leadership styles (e.g., autocratic, democratic, transformational); Understanding your leadership style; Leadership style in different situations; Communication and Interpersonal Skills; Effective Communication; Key elements of effective communication, amongst many other modules.
