The Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) Stabilization Support Mission in Guinea-Bissau (ESSMGB), Ghana Company (GHANCOY) has held a Transfer-of-Authority ceremony for Combat Team Commander (CTC), GHANCOY 3 – Lieutenant Colonel (Lt Col) Gabriel Mawuli Agboado to hand over the mandate to Lt Col Isaac Keelson Ekow Amoah – CTC, GHANCOY 4.
In his farewell address after handing over the baton of office on Friday 1 August 2025, at the GHANCOY Camp in Guinea-Bissau, Lt Col GM Agboado wished GHANCOY 4 well on their tour of duty, acknowledged other contingents whose cooperation contributed to the success of his tour, and commended his troops for their sacrifice, dedication, hard work and discipline.

The baton handing over ceremony was preceded by a signing of handing over notes, which was witnessed by Ghana’s Ambassador to the Republics of Guinea and Guinea-Bissau – His Excellency (HE) Maxwell Awiagah, and the Country Senior Representative – Lt Col Mark Ofori Korankye, after a Change-of-Guard parade, and inspection of Quarter Guard by Lt Col Agboado.
In his remarks, the Ambassador and Guest of Honour for the ceremony, paid tribute to the Ghana Armed Forces for its record of excellence in Peace Support Operations globally.

He recounted the significant contributions of previous GHANCOYs to the stability and economic development of Guinea-Bissau, and further commended Lt Col GM Agboado, Officers and Soldiers of GHANCOY 3, for making Ghana proud through their tireless efforts at achieving the ECOWAS mandate.
In his concluding remarks, the Ambassador urged personnel of GHANCOY 4 to work harder, in order to exceed the high standard set by GHANCOY 3, while keeping the flags of the Ghana Armed Forces and Ghana flying high.
