The General Officer Commanding (GOC), Northern Command (N/COMD) – Brigadier General (Brig Gen) Frank Nartey Tei stated at the reception ceremony that, adequate and reliable operational vehicles are needed to conduct mobility operations, against all manner of threats, especially the threat of terrorism, which has become a major security concern in the West Africa sub-region.

He commended the CO, 6Bn, for leveraging on the relationship with the MP to support the Unit, and expressed gratitude on behalf of the Military High Command, to Dr Mohammed Amin Adam for the kind gesture.

The MP in his remarks, stated that he was not oblivious to security concerns in the Northern Region, and thus, commended the Unit for initiating various projects to address the welfare needs of the troops, and thereby pledged his continuous support to the Unit for the ongoing fencing project, and other self-help projects being undertaken.

Receiving the donation on behalf of his Unit, Lt Col J Ankuyi extended his gratitude to the MP, and said that one of the ways a fighting Unit can respond swiftly to a security situation, is through effective conduct of mobility operations, which entails the domination of ground, in order to contain a prevailing threat.

He further stated that the vehicles available to the Unit now would ameliorate the difficulties faced to an extent, although more logistics would still be needed, and that measures are in place to maintain the vehicles in order safeguard their operational benefits.

The Northern Regional Minister – Alhaji Shani Alhassan Shaibu, in his remarks emphasized the relevance of public-private alliances, in enhancing the combat efficiency of the Ghana Armed Forces, and reiterated how vital such donations are in empowering the security architecture in the Northern Region.

The vehicles, which are expected to be used by the Unit in the conduct of Internal Security (IS) Operations, would improve mobility and logistical competence of 6Bn, enabling it to respond swiftly to security situations without delay.
