N/COMD COMMENCES 11-WEEK HARSH TRAINING TOWARDS EX TIGER’S PATH ‘23

Ghana Army’s Northern Command (N/COMD), has commenced eleven (11) weeks of tough training towards participation at the 2023 edition of Ghana Armed Forces’ (GAF) Tri-Service training competition; EXERCISE TIGER’S PATH.

The Command commenced its training program on Monday 4 September 2023, at the Justice Opoku Hall, Kamina Barracks, Tamale, towards Ex Tiger’s Path ’23, which is aimed at testing a cross-section of GAF personnel in jungle craft, and skills in Internal Security (IS) and Counter-Insurgency (COIN) setting.

The Command Operations Officer (COO), N/COMD – Colonel (Col) Franklin Worlanyo Agbebo, in his opening remarks on behalf of the General Officer Commanding (GOC) N/COMD – Brigadier General Matthew Essien, said, the Command intends to win this year’s trophy and has, therefore, put in place administrative measures to ensure that the 11-weeks training programme is tough enough, to make the team successful.

Col Agbebo urged the team to give of their best to meet the standards required, and to continue to raise the flag of N/COMD high. He tasked the instructors to professionally handle the team in order to emerge winners during the competition.

Ex Tiger’s Path, organized by the Army Training Command (ACTS) on competitive basis, forms part of GAF’s training calendar for 2023. It will take place in the Akim Achiase general area, Eastern Region of Ghana, from 21-24 November, 2023, amongst Platoons representing Commands under Ghana’s military, such as Southern, Central, Northern, Navy, Air Force, and Support Services Brigade Group.

Present at the opening ceremony was the Command Logistics Officer – Col Francis Kojo Bannerman; the Chief G5 – Col Appah Yaw Owusu, and other key staff appointments at the N/COMD Headquarters.
