As part of efforts to build capacity and improve efficiency of troops, the Northern Command (N/COMD) of the Ghana Army has conducted EXERCISE BURNING ARROW 2023 (EX BURNING ARROW ’23).
The Command level Exercise on Monday 9 to Tuesday 10 October 2023, was used to practice the units under the command and other security services within the region, in the Tactics, Techniques and Procedures related to Internal Security (IS), Counter Insurgency (COINS) and Counter Terrorism (CT).

Furthermore, the exercise was aimed at testing the skills and coordination between the Ghana Armed Forces and other security services, in joint operations such as OPERATIONS CONQUERED FIST, CALM LIFE and HALT II.
EX BURNING ARROW ’23 was held at various border areas in Ghana’s North, to increase awareness and sensitize the public of military presence, roles and effectiveness of N/COMD as against acts of aggression by Terrorist Armed Groups (TAGs) and Violent Extremist (VE) groups in the northern sector and territorial space of Ghana.

Due to recent rise in crime and other violent incidences becoming rampant, and terrorist activities happening close to Ghana’s northern frontiers, it has become imperative for N/COMD to train its troops and test their readiness in combatting such menaces.
