The General Officer Commanding (GOC), Northern Command (N/COMD) – Brigadier General (Brig Gen) Franklyn Worlanyo Agbebo has paid operational visits to 6 Infantry Battalion (6Bn), 10, 11 and 12 Mechanized Battalions, and the Joint Task Force Unit at Bawku.
The 4 days visits from Wednesday 18 June and Saturday 21 June 2025, formed part of his maiden tour of Units within the N/COMD, following his recent assumption of command, and received a comprehensive briefing from the Commanding Officers (COs), in their respective Units.
The brief included the operational structure, training programmes, equipment maintenance, administrative needs, logistical capabilities and welfare measures implemented and the challenges within the Units.
Brig Gen Agbebo, as part of his tour inspected key installations, facilities and on-going projects in the Units, visited detachments, and held an all ranks durbar in the various Units, where he interacted with troops, acquiring the opportunity for open dialogue, allowing troops to express their concerns.
The GOC emphasized the importance of regular visits to detachments by Unit Commanders, to strengthen monitoring and supervision, and proposed the implementation of mobile training initiatives, where instructors would travel to remote locations to deliver on-site training to troops.
He commended the Officers, Soldiers and Defence Civilian Staff for their professionalism, hard work and dedication to the Units, amidst various operational challenges, and reaffirmed his support for their welfare and operational needs, and thus urged troops to continue working hard to achieve a common goal, for the betterment of the Command.
