N/COMD ROUNDS UP SECURITY FORCE ASSISTANCE BRIGADE TRAINING

Ghana Army’s Northern Command (N/COMD) has marked a successful completion of a two-week Security Force Assistance Brigade (SFAB) training, to enhance its operational efficiency and combat readiness, and to equip personnel with the skills necessary to operate effectively.

The closing ceremony took place on Friday 4 April 2025, at the Justice Opoku Hall, Kamina Barracks, and crowned the training program which commenced on Monday 24 March to Friday 4 April, 2025, with participants drawn from 6 Infantry Battalion, 69 Airborne Force, Air Force Base Tamale and 93 Signal Regiment.

In a speech delivered on behalf of the General Officer Commanding (GOC), N/COMD by the Command Operations Officer – Colonel (Col) Frank Gyabi-Abrokwah, participants were reminded of the significance of the training, and how it would benefit the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) as a whole.

He stated that, the dotted conflict situation in the Northern part of Ghana, and the terrorist threat from the Sahel Region towards Northern Ghana, calls for constant training and preparation of all persons, to enable effective handling of such situations.

The GOC, on behalf of the Military High Command, thanked the government of the United States of America for the training opportunities given to GAF, and advised participants to use the knowledge and skills acquired to benefit both themselves and GAF, and reminded them to always remain professional in their craft.

The Team Lead, SFAB – Major Stephen Tyminski, expressed his gratitude to GAF and the GOC, for giving them the opportunity to train the Soldiers, and congratulated the participants for successfully completing the training.

Present at the event included the Commanding Officer, 6 Infantry Battalion – Lieutenant Colonel Jerry Ankuyi, Staff Officers and Soldiers of the Command.
