The Naval Training Command (NAVTRAC) of the Ghana Navy (GN) held a Religious and Induction Parade for its Flag Officer Commanding (FOC) – Commodore (Cdre) Solomon Asiedu-Larbi, and a Stripe-Wetting ceremony for Officers who have been newly promoted.

The ceremony, which took place at the auditorium of the School of Maritime Operations, Nutekpor, on Sunday 21 July 2024, was led by the Director, Naval Religious Affairs – Reverend Commander (Cdr) David Quayson, who in a sermon themed “Service in Humility in God Leads to Success,” urged the FOC to accept his new role with dedication and humility, and the Officers and Ratings to strive for excellence through high integrity, honesty, and dedication.

The FOC in his remarks, outlined his vision and stated that the Command had positioned itself as a Center of Excellence, in the training of personnel, and also for staff of other institutions in the West African maritime domain.

In a speech read on behalf of the Volta Regional Minister by Mr Thomas Moore Zonyrah – District Chief Executive Officer (DCE), Central Tongu, he stated that the Government of Ghana has intends to cut short the travelling time from Sogakope to the Naval Base, Nutekpor, and that contract for the construction of the new road had been awarded and work had commenced.

He thus urged communities in the catchment area to cooperate with the Command in opening up the communities for development.

Present at the Service were the Deputy Chief of Staff (Logistics), General Headquarters – Rear Admiral Samuel Agyenim-Boateng; FOC Eastern Naval Command – Cdre Maxwell Arhen; National Coordinator, Fisheries Enforcement Unit – Cdre Nyarko; District Chief Executives for Ada East and South Tongu; Vice Chancellor, Ho Technical University – Professor Honyenuga, Senior Officers of Ghana Armed Forces, Officers, Coxswains, Ratings and Defence Civilian Staff.
