A Technical Team from the Ghana Boundary Commission (GhBC) led by Lieutenant Colonel Evans Komedjah – (Deputy Director, Boundary Operations Department), with their counterparts from the National Land Boundary Commission of Togo, led a team from the African Union Border Programme (AUBP)/GIZ to Ziope in the Volta Region of Ghana to conduct a field visit along the common Boundary Line between Ghana and Togo.
The purpose of the visit on 19 April 2024, was for the AUBP/GIZ Team to assess the new boundary pillars under construction and note the different forms of natural boundary demarcations in the area, such as rivers, watersheds, and ridges.

The visit was part of the programme for the AUBP/GIZ Internal Planning Meeting held in the Volta Region from 15 to 19 April 2024. Ghana was selected as the venue for this year’s meeting due to the progress made by Ghana and Togo in the boundary reaffirmation process between the two countries.
The AUBP/GIZ Team comprised participants from GIZ Offices in Ethiopia, Tanzania, Nigeria, Mali, and Guinea, and was led by Mr Valentin Schuetz, Head of Programme Support to the AUBP/GIZ.
