The newly appointed United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS) Sector Unity Head of Field Office (HoFO) – Mr Kwame Dwamena¬-Aboagye has paid his maiden visit to United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS) Ghana Battalion 11 (GHANBATT) at the Battalion Headquarters, Bentiu, to officially introduce himself, interact, and familiarize himself with some key appointment holders.
In his remarks, on Friday 23 February 2023, Mr Dwamena¬-Aboagye commended GHANBATT 11 on their professionalism in close collaborations with other UN agencies within the Sector, in the attainment of the UN Mandate, and urged personnel of the Battalion to continue to fly high the flag of Ghana, in the discharge of their duties.

Mr Dwamena¬-Aboagye reiterated that his assumption into office as the Head of Field Office in Sector Unity, is a chance for him to bring on board his years of experience to the benefit of UNMISS at large.
Mr Dwamena¬-Aboagye’s experience with UN dates back to 2006, when he was a Civil Affairs Officer with UNMISS in Abyei, worked in Bentiu, South Sudan as a State Coordinator from 2008 to 2011 before moving to Juba as a Civil Affairs Officer, and later joined Sector Unity as the Head of Field Office in December 2013 to February 2014. Before his appointment as the HoFO for Sector Unity in February 2024, he was the HoFO for Rumbek in Sector West, from March 2014 to February 2024.

The Deputy Commanding Officer (DCO) UNMISS GHANBATT 11 – Major Kwabena Owusu Nimako, on behalf of his Commanding Officer – Lieutenant Colonel Dominic Ampomah, welcomed the HoFO and expressed appreciation of the visit.
