NEWMONT GIVES 3 NEW TOYOTA HILUX VEHICLES TO GAF

Newmont Ghana operating in Ahafo Region has donated 3 brand new Toyota Hilux pickup vehicles – valued at GHS 1,713,718.68 each – to the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF), to assist the mobility of personnel deployed in the region.

In a short ceremony held at the Ahafo Regional Coordinating Council, Goaso on Wednesday 12 June 2024, the General Officer Commanding (GOC), Central Command (C/COMD) – Brigadier General (Brig Gen) Michael Opoku, who received the vehicles on behalf of GAF’s Military High Command, thanked Newmont Ghana, and assured that the vehicles would be put to good use for the purpose it was intended.

The GOC further assured that GAF will do all it can to ensure peace in the Ahafo Region, with the support of stakeholders.

The General Manager of Newmont Ahafo South Mine – Mr Alex Kofi Annin, who presented the vehicles, indicated that Newmont Ghana prides itself in improving the lives and creating value for people that they associate themselves with, and stated that the vehicles would assist the military to improve their patrols, thereby protecting the region and its inhabitants.

The Ahafo Regional Minister – Mr George Boakye, who supervised the handing over of the vehicles, also chronicled the numerous support that the region has enjoyed from Newmont Ghana, and added that the provision of the vehicles, would help personnel to deal with security issues in the region, so that its inhabitants can go about their normal duties without any fear.
