NORWAY RENEWS PARTNERSHIP WITH KAIPTC

by Kofi Ampeah Woode

The Kofi Annan International Peacekeeping Training Centre (KAIPTC) has renewed its partnership with Norway through the signing of a new grant agreement.

This grant will bolster the KAIPTC’s core activities from January 2024 to December 2025, enhancing the Centre’s mission to promote peace, security, and good governance in Africa.

Norway has been a longstanding supporter of the KAIPTC for nearly two decades, playing a crucial role in the latter’s training, education, research, and policy dialogue efforts.

The two have expressed commitment to empowering the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), the African Union (AU), and the United Nations (UN) structures; advancing gender equity; strengthening KAIPTC’s sustainability and strategic networking efforts.

In a related matter, Major General (Maj Gen) Richard Addo Gyane – the Commandant, KAIPTC and his team, continue their active engagements with European partners, to strengthen efforts by the Centre in conflict prevention.

They have held meetings with the Norwegian Centre for Conflict Resolution, the Peace Research Institute Oslo (PRIO), and the Norwegian Agency for Development Cooperation (NORAD).

These discussions focused on enhancing collaboration on initiatives such as mediation, negotiation, and other vital measures for preventing conflicts.
