The Central Forward Operating Base (FOB) Anti-Galamsey Task Force (Operation Vanguard), in a joint operation with the Bureau of National Investigation (BNI), led by Officer Commanding (OC) Captain (Capt) DO Brown, have arrested four Chinese illegal miners at Akwaboso.
The culprits, arrested on Wednesday, 6th November 2019, were Yin Xian Shan 49 years, Yang Mao Ji 49, Luo Zheng Long 36 and Cheng Bing Fu 49, in a dawn operation, which also retrieved a pistol, chanfan and four water pump machines from that general area.
The suspects who were left in the grips of the BNI, were later handed over to the Immigration Service, at Dunkwa in the Central Region for further investigation.
Subsequent Operation
Similar arrest led by Capt AD Kabenla, also followed on 8th November 2019, at the West Forward Operating Base (FOB) and it led to another four Chinese illegal miners from the Manso-Amanfi District – Li Chenguan 48 years, Huang Wenzheng 41, Huang Longshan 28 and Huang Can 33, being arrested.
Additionally, various mining equipment, including Ghanaian non-citizen identity cards and numerous cartridges, were seized at the time of the arrest and were later sent to Accra for thorough investigation.[vc_gallery type=”image_grid” images=”2365,2366,2367,2368,2374,2373,2372,2371,2370,2369″]
