ORGANIZATION OF MILITARY SPORTS IN AFRICA PRESIDENT VISITS GAF CDS

The President of the Organization of Military Sports in Africa (OMSA), Major General (Maj Gen) Maikano Abdullahi has paid a courtesy call on the Chief of the Defence Staff (CDS) of the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) Lieutenant General (Lt Gen) Thomas Oppong-Peprah, on Monday, 15 July 2024, at the General Headquarters.

Maj Gen Abdullahi was received and welcomed by the Chief of Staff at the General Headquarters – Maj Gen Joseph Prince Osei-Owusu, on behalf of the CDS.

Maj Gen Abdullahi in his remarks said the motto of the organization was ‘Friendship through Sports’, which aimed to promote sporting activities and physical education between Armed Forces in Africa.

It was also a means to foster African peace and solidarity within member countries, and mentioned that Ghana had performed well in most sporting disciplines over the period and recommended that, the shooting trophy for the upcoming games be sponsored by the President of Ghana – His Excellency Nana Addo Danquah Akufo-Addo.

Maj Gen Osei-Owusu, on his part, thanked Maj Gen Abdullahi for the visit and also congratulated him on his re-election as President of OMSA, and assured that, the recommendation will be forwarded to the CDS for consideration and approval.
