The Honorary Consul of the Republic of Congo to Ghana – His Excellency (HE) Jean-Pierre Diassouka has paid a courtesy call on the Chief of the Defence Staff (CDS) of the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) – Lieutenant General (Lt Gen) Thomas Oppong-Peprah on Wednesday, 5 June, 2024, at the General Headquarters, Burma Camp, Accra, to discuss ways to enhance collaboration for mutual benefit.
In his remarks, HE Jean Pierre stressed on the existing collaboration between Ghana and Congo and called for expansion in areas of trade and security among the two nations. He disclosed that over the period, over 5,000 Congolese had been trained in economics and many other subjects in Ghana’s Tertiary Institutions.

Lt Gen Oppong-Peprah stated that the GAF would continue to promote peace and stability on the African continent through its Peace Support Operations. He added that although the piracy threats had decreased, it was imperative for the navies in the region to continue to work together to sustain the gains made.
