S/COMD HOLDS 2024 END OF YEAR RELIGIOUS PARADE

Headquarters Southern Command (HQ, S/COMD) has held its annual End of Year Non-denominational Thanksgiving Religious Parade.

The event, held on Sunday 10 November 2024, at Kpeshie Ridge, Teshie, Accra, under the auspices of the General Officer Commanding (GOC) – Brigadier General (Brig Gen) Samuel Yeboah Asare, was a significant occasion aimed at bringing together Senior Officers, Commanding Officers of Units under the command, Officers, Soldiers, Defense Civilian Staff, and their families, in a show of unity and gratitude to God, for a successful 2024.

The ceremony, under the theme; ‘Embracing God’s Divine Purpose in Service’, which was officiated by the Command Chaplain – Reverend Lieutenant Colonel (Lt Col) Francis Obodai Lokko, and the Imam, Air Force Base, Accra, Imam – Flight Lieutenant (Flt Lt) Moucharoudine-Siddique Maiga, was also to commit the command and its activities into the hands of the Almighty God, and to seek His guidance and favour, for the Unit in the ensuing years.

The Clergy in their respective sermons, encouraged all to remain steadfast and uphold righteousness in all aspects of military service, and abide by the tenets of selflessness and dedication, which are essential for their spiritual upliftment.

The Director General, Inspector General’s Department at the General Headquarters, (DG IGD) –  Brig Gen Errington Kojo Commey, in his remarks as Guest of Honour, encouraged troops to seek divine guidance from God, particularly in times of doubt or when facing challenges, as God is faithful and just to hear His children in their time of need.

Brig Gen EK Commey admonished all to uphold the utmost level of professionalism in Ghana’s upcoming Presidential and Parliamentary elections, and entreated troops to exhibit professionalism, and a high sense of discipline when deployed to provide support to the civil police and other relevant state authorities, to maintain peace and tranquility in the country.
