Southern Command (S/COMD), has held its First Quarter Non-denominational Religious Parade at the Command Headquarters at Kpeshie Ridge, Teshie, to commit the Command and its activities into the Hands of the Almighty God, and to seek His guidance and favour for the Formation, for 2024 and beyond.
The event on Sunday 03 march 2024, which brought together personnel from Units under Command and their families, as well as friends of the command, under the theme; “The Commandment”.

In his remarks, the General Officer Commanding (GOC), S/COMD – Brigadier General (Brig Gen) Samuel Yeboah Asare, spoke of the need for troops to maintain a spiritual life, and treat it with utmost seriousness, as it could help them navigate through life successfully.
Citing himself as an example, the GOC stated that being attentive to his spiritual life has helped him immensely, throughout his military career, and thus, recommended same to his charges, even as they remain professional and alert and deliver their duties proficiently, when deployed on any internal security operation, especially as the 2024 December general elections approach.

He admonished troops to make judicious use of their incomes, and to desist from acts that may lead them to indebtedness, including gambling and all forms of financial scams.
In a sermon, the Command Chaplain – Reverend Lieutenant Colonel (Lt Col) FO Lokko, who preached a sermon from Exodus 20:1-17 and John 2:13-22, entreated troops to seek the face of God in all endeavors, and to establish personal relations with Him for their spiritual upliftment.
He encouraged troops to seek the Wisdom of God, and also utilize emotional intelligence, to be able to maximise productivity, both at work and in their private lives, advising the congregants to disentangle themselves from over-indulgence in unsubstantiated prophecies and miracles, and concentrate on their personal faith in God.
Conducting the Islamic homily and prayer, Imam Nurudeen Quaye, preaching from Sura 2:285 admonished troops to remain obedient and follow laid down guidelines and instructions on the job, as it could make the difference between a professional soldier and an unprofessional one.

He indicated that laid down guidelines are very important in the lives of professional soldiers, to guide and guard them in all aspects of their careers.
Present at the ceremony included the Command Logistics Officer – Colonel Eric Kwabena Nyarko; Commanding Officer – Lt Col Mawuli Agboado, Officers, Command Sergeant Major, Soldiers, and Defence Civilian Staff.
