The Security Force Assistance Brigade (SFAB) of the United States Army, led by Captain J Cejka, in partnership with the Headquarters of Ghana Army’s Northern Command (N/COMD), has commenced a 4-week training programme at the 6 Infantry Battalion, Kamina Barracks, Tamale.

The Deputy Command Operations Officer, Lieutenant Colonel (Lt Col) P Nadom, in his opening address on Monday 08 May 2023, at the Justice Opoku Hall, revealed that, a total of about 70 participants, all ranks from all units under Northern Command, including the Ghana Airforce, would train with the foreign delegation.
The Command Operations Officer (COO), N/COMD – Colonel Franklyn Worlanyo K Agbebo ,on behalf of the General Officer Commanding, N/COMD, briefed the participants on the challenges from the unpredictable nature of the threats from the Sahel region, especially Burkina Faso. He emphasized that the training with the SFAB is geared towards producing a more proactive force to contain these threats, including violent extremism.

Captain J Cejka assured the Command of N/COMD on SFAB’s readiness in building capacity to train participants under the Command, to counter terrorism and violent extremism. The training programme includes subjects on Improvised Explosive Device, Small Unit Tactics, Basic Weapon Training, Fighting in Built Up Areas and First Aid Training.

SFAB are specialized United States Army units with the core mission to conduct training, advising, assisting, enabling and accompanying operations with allied and partner nations. Soldiers in SFABs are highly trained, and among the top tactical leaders in the US Army. Their work is intended to strengthen US allies and partners while supporting America’s security objectives and the combatant commanders’ warfighting needs.
