SOUTH AFRICA JOINT DEFENCE COMMITTEE VISITS CDS

A 5-member delegation from South Africa, led by the Acting Secretary for Defence – Dr Thobekile Gamede have paid a courtesy call on the Chief of the Defence Staff (CDS) of the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) – Lieutenant General (Lt Gen) Thomas Oppong-Peprah, on Monday, 29 July 2024, at the General Headquarters.

Dr Gamede mentioned that the purpose of the visit was to congratulate the CDS on his elevation to the highest rank and appointment in the GAF, to discuss issues of mutual benefit and deepen the relationship between the GAF and the South African National Defence Force (SANDF).

Lt Gen Oppong-Peprah in his remarks was grateful for the visit and highlighted that GAF and SANDF have collaborated in areas such as training, defence industries and security operations which had strengthened the bilateral relationship between both institutions.

He called for a more collaborative effort to exchange experiences in  peace and security.
